My evening walk was under a veil of thin high cloud which provided soft even light – until about 10 minutes before sunset at 9:29pm when it broke up to the north west sufficiently to allow through a short bust of beautiful sunbeams. I found my first wild orchids of the year – many pyramidal (?) orchids dotted about in a hay meadow.
